SHELTER ADOPT-A-PET DAYS!

A SPECIAL NOTE OF THANKS TO THE MEMPHIS ANIMAL SHELTER AND ITS EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR COOPERATION IN MAKING THESE SHELTER ADOPTION DAYS POSSIBLE!

The coordinator for our Shelter Adoption Day events is RAOT President, Donna Malone.

On April 29, 2001, one of RAOT's "dreams" came true. That dream was of our hosting regular adoption days for the animals at the Memphis Animal Shelter at sites away from the shelter. Animals at the shelter, normally, stand little or no chance of being adopted for a variety of reasons. We knew if we took animals out of the shelter and put them in more pleasant surroundings that homes could be found for them. We are proud to claim a proven track record of successes! Every single adoption day we have held to-date for MAS animals has been 100% success and all animals at each of the events have been adopted!

On Shelter Adopt-a-Pet Days, animals from the Memphis Animal Shelter that probably would not be adopted otherwise are taken from the shelter to another site for adoption. For a number of reasons, off-site adoptions greatly enhance an animals’ adoption potential. Each and every animal adopted at one of these events is a life saved.

At present, we are somewhat limited in how many pets we can help because we do not have a shelter.  When we get a shelter, we will be able to save many, many more animals. Then, we we won't have to wait for adoption days, we can adopt MAS animals, take them to our shelter, and give them the critical time and exposure they need that will enable us to place them.  We are working hard to get a shelter and we need your help!  CLICK HERE for info about our No-Kill Shelter project!

IT'S EASY FOR OUR VOLUNTEERS TO SMILE!  IN ALL PROBABILITY,  ALL THE ANIMALS WILL FIND HOMES!   AND, OF COURSE, THEY DID THIS DAY TOO!

Shelter Adopt-A-Pet Days would be impossible without the help of our volunteers.  Volunteers perform a variety of tasks at the event, from caring for the animals needs, holding dogs' leashes, and interacting with interested visitors, to distributing information about the event and responsible animal ownership.
