| - Potential owners choose pets suitable for their lifestyle and needs. (One of the top reasons for relinquishment of pets at shelters is that owners did not understand their pets' most basic behaviors and needs and/or either chose an animal inappropriate to their lifestyle and needs or have undergone a lifestyle change that makes keeping the animal inconvenient.
- Owners locate responsible breeders.
- Resolve problems related to or arising out of animal ownership. This can be as simple as helping owners resolve minor behavioral problems to the more complicated, like helping people find reasonable solutions to problems with neighbors that own animals.
- Owners find products, sources, resources, and services to enhance their ownership experience via counseling and this website.
- Owners encourage better behavior overall in their dogs and train dogs, using operant conditioning. While the classes stress positive reinforcement for desirable behaviors, appropriate use of corrections is also taught as a few dogs need the extra incentive to comply with commands.
